Dr. Mullins is your Preferred Invisalign Provider in Bristol and Johnson City
Invisalign treatment is an advanced type of orthodontic treatment offered at L. Sean Mullins Orthodontics that utilizes a series of clear plastic trays called aligners to move teeth incrementally into proper alignment. This type of treatment replaces the use of wires, elastics, and orthodontic brackets usually associated with orthodontic treatment to achieve the desired results.
Invisalign can be used to treat orthodontic problems such as mild to moderate spacing, mild to moderate crowding, and mild to moderate bite problems. A clinical exam at our Bristol or Johnson City, TN office is needed in order to determine if a patient's orthodontic problems fit in these categories. An assessment of the patient's compliance level is also important to determine if they are a good candidate for Invisalign. In order to be effective, Invisalign aligners must be worn every day for 22 hours. This is the number-one key to success with Invisalign treatment.
Invisalign treatment has several advantages over traditional braces:
- Most patients like Invisalign because they are an ultra-aesthetic option for completing orthodontic treatment. They are almost invisible when they are worn.
- Invisalign aligners also tend to be more comfortable than traditional appliances due to the way that they are contoured so closely to the teeth unlike braces, which protrude from the teeth.
- The aligners are removable which makes eating food easier and better. There are fewer limitations regarding what types of food patients can have during Invisalign treatment.
- Being removable also makes oral hygiene extremely easy compared to traditional braces. It is basically no different from what patients are used to doing without braces.
Your Invisalign Treatment
If you and Dr. Mullins decide that Invisalign aligners are right for you, we’ll start your treatment by taking impressions. We use an iTero® intraoral scanner for all of our patients to eliminate the need for traditional dental impressions. The scanning process also helps to speed up the manufacturing process, which ultimately allows you to proceed through your treatment much quicker.
After you receive your Invisalign aligners, you will wear each set for about two weeks before changing them out for the next set in the series. You’ll need to visit our Bristol or Johnson City, TN orthodontic office every six to eight weeks so we can monitor your progress and make adjustments as needed.
With good compliance wearing the aligners, Invisalign treatment should take no longer than treatment with traditional appliances. The overall length of the treatment depends upon the complexity of your unique case.
As a specialist in orthodontics, Dr. Mullins is uniquely able to design and implement your custom orthodontic treatment, whether you choose Invisalign or any other orthodontic treatment we offer. Regardless of your chosen method, you can rest assured that your results will be stunning and long lasting.
